Journal Mondays Writing Prompt

Let’s do a mind map today. In the center of a clean page write “Me”. Around this put five words that you would use to describe your personality. Around each of these words put the names of five people you know who share the same quality.

When you are done journal about the results. Do you share some of your traits with more people than others? Was there a trait with no one who had similarities? Why do you suppose that is?

Continue On Saturdays Writing Prompt

The gist of it is simple. I give you the start of a line/story and you continue on. This week:

When I was eight years old I saw a spacecraft land in the field behind Mr. Coulson’s barn. No one believed me. Every night afterward for the next six years I would wait by my window until I fell asleep and my father would transfer me to my bed. I don’t know if I really expected them to come back but I..

Dirty Dozen Fridays Writing Prompt

Set your timer and for the next fifteen minutes and write something using these twelve words. The order of the words can be switched around as necessary. The choice of whether you write fiction or non-fiction is up to you. And don’t use all the words in the first paragraph.

  • mask
  • RV
  • solitude
  • encapsulate
  • tone
  • bilk
  • clearance
  • orange
  • country
  • tweed
  • cages
  • tooth

Do not use them all in one paragraph either! Spread them out — one per paragraph (or page) would be a nice challenge.

“But she’s sleeping? She not bothering anyone,” I replied, diverting my eyes to the noisy girls. He leaned over and…
